Deep Space Loots

Posted on January 08, 2018

We started playing a 5e game with myself (semi-experienced), a veteran player, and three totally new players, one of which is my wife. Over our ten years of marriage she’s only recently gone from waiting ‘patiently’ in the car on comic book day to coming in and getting books of her own, so starting a D&D campaign was a huge step for her.

At the end of last week’s session she started diving out the loot. "Ok you all get 50 gold, 75 silver and 2 latinum.”

"What?" I asked, stunned.

She repeated the loot amounts and types, and after seeing the stares from everyone at the table she said, "What? It’s what I wrote down!"

The vet player chimed in, "Latinum is the currency that the Ferengi use on Deep Space 9.”

"Oh, right!”

I was so proud of her transition from ‘normal’ person to D&D-playing interstellar financier.
